The Southern Christian Leadership Conference passed a political resolution during its 11th annual convention stating that the price for support of the Democratic ticket in the upcoming 1968 elections would be for the Democrats to adopt a platform calling for the immediate end to the war in Vietnam and a guaranteed annual wage (two causes former SCLC leader Martin Luther King was fighting for when he was assassinated).
