BLACK LIBERATION PARTY

(reprinted)

TO ALL BLACK BROTHERS IN THE MILITARY

Fred Hampton, 21, Deputy Chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party, was shot and killed in his bed in the predawn hours of Dec. 4, 1969, by Illinois State Police. Also murdered was Mark Clark, Panther Defense Captain of Peoria, Illinois. Four other Panthers were wounded in the raid on Hampton’s apartment at 2337 W. Monroe - one block from the Illinois Black Panther Headquarters.

No shots were fired from the Panthers. Fred Hampton couldn't have fired at the time he was asleep. Mark Clark was killed behind a door - a hell of a place for a gun battle. But nothing should be done about it. Nothing should be done about the killings and jailings that the Panther Party is suffering because it is a black organization dedicated to freeing the black man from the racism and oppression that he is still suffering after four hundred years.

Nothing should be done about this racist army that sends sixteen per cent of the blacks in the military to Viet Nam to kill off another colored race.

Nothing should be done about the racism and discrimination that all black Gis in the military suffer on a massive scale that includes all oppressed GIs in every installation in the country.

Nothing should be done. When it goes on in an even larger scale in places like Germany and Korea, Italy, etc. But the majority of you feel nothing should be done. That we should take this shit for two or three years.

NO ONE SHOULD TAKE THIS SHIT AT ANY TIME

Our organization is a black organization, dedicated to ending the racism and discrimination that all blacks and oppressed people suffer in the military. We are GIs so we know we have see[n] what the military does to blacks and oppressed people. No matter how long you will be in, no matter what length of time, no one should sit back and take this bull. NO ONE after four hundred years. The black man should be the last person who will take this bull. Organize brothers, start fighting this man with numbers; start dealing with him as he is dealing with you. Start oppressing him as he is oppressing you. I mean the man, those jive officers and high-ranking N.C.O. and the man up in the house. Make him look at you. Let’s put fear in his heart NOW.

We are asking the support of every organization in this country that is dedicated to ending the oppression and discrimination that all blacks and oppressed people suffer in this country, both in the military and in civilian life. We will furnish any information necessary. Just write or call and let us know.
